President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov attended the official opening of the first phase in Khidirli village of Aghdam district on July 3.
Khidirli village is located northwest of Aghdam city and is one of the settlements being rebuilt within the framework of the "Great Return" Program. The aim of the project is to ensure the safe and dignified return of former internally displaced persons to their homeland.
In the first phase, 719 individual houses have been built, with a total of 2,951 people planned to be relocated to these homes. Modern social infrastructure facilities have also been established in the village — administrative buildings, a community club center, a medical station, an emergency medical unit, a school, and a 120-place nursery-kindergarten.
The Presidents familiarized themselves with the conditions created and together opened Khidirli village secondary school. The school has a capacity of 528 students and is equipped with sports halls, laboratories, a library, and other modern facilities.
As part of the event, the heads of state met with residents and presented them with the keys to their new homes. This ceremony is a clear example of the successful continuation of ongoing restoration and reconstruction work in the region.
